Why did Ulf and Hugh betray Rhaenyra?

Ulf and Hugh were featured in the book titled “Fire and Blood”. They were sent as auxiliaries to help the blacks defend Tumbleton from Lord Ormumd High Tower’s host during the war against Tumbleton. But, these two (Ulf and Hugh) betrayed Rhaenyra. In the book, Hugh And Ulf were people with Valerian blood who were invited by Jacarey to come over to Dragonstone.

On their arrival, they bore a false identity. Huge also known as Huge Hammer portrayed Vermithor while Ulf also called Ulf the white portrayed Silverwing. These two; Vermithor and Silverwing were living dragons with a very large size. 

During the fight, they defended Rhaenyra and the blacks, but Rhaenyra in turn did not treat them rightly which made them betray Rhaenyra. Find out the details of why and how Ulf and Huge betrayed Rhaenyra.

HOW DID THEY BETRAY RHAENYRA?

After Ulf and Huge won the battle against Tumbleton, they were promised some rewards, but they displayed a high level of greed by demanding an award that was not accepted by Rhaenyra. 

When Rhaenyra could not fulfill their demands, Ulf and Huge Hammer decided to return on a mission of betrayal by setting the town ablaze. 

WHY DID ULF AND HUGE HAMMER BETRAY RHAENYRA?

When Ulf and Huge were sent to defend Rhaenyra in the fight against Tumbleton, they were promised Knighthood, lands, and a few other rewards. 

Daemon requested that Rhaenyra should give Lord Stokeworth’s daughter in marriage, but Rhaenyra did not accept his request. He made a second request that he should give the castle being controlled by the Baratheons to Ulf, but he also turned down this request.

Daemon also asked Rhaenyra to give Huge Casterly Rock Castle but Rhaenyra also declined.

Rather than giving Ulf and Huge Hammer the rewards Daemon requested, Rhaenyra gave them some lands on drift marks. These were not commensurate with the help they lent to Rhaenyra. This singular act made Ulf and Huge Hammer decide to betray him by burning down the city.
