“RedNote Takes Over” as Americans Flock to Chinese App for Unexpected Connections

Rednote started trending on social media sparking many reactions and conversations among Netizens in the United States.

The app has in no doubt taken Social media, more specifically X (formerly Known As Twitter). Conversations about privacy and international connections are being discussed among Netizens.

Many Americans have rushed to download the application seeing it as a Chinese alternative to TikTok.

A User on X, Abby pointed out a funny observation about Americans using the application, RedNote to go against the United States government, but ‘finding’ themselves ‘having lovely’ conversations with Chinese.

Lmao at thousands of people downloading Rednote (the version of tiktok that is actually owned by China) to spite the U.S. government, finding themselves having lovely interactions with the millions of Chinese citizens on the app & inadvertently undoing decades of U.S. propaganda.”

Under her post, a community Note hit her, making it crystal clear that neither RedNot nor TikTok are properties of the Chinese government. However, they are still under China’s National Intelligence Law, which allows the Chinese government to get any data when they ask.

Another user, Ocean Living in a different light explains how Americans can now talk to Chinese users on the RedNote app as opposed to TikTok where your conversations as an American stay within the U.S. In their post, he humorously puts it that “people are realizing that the Chinese are just as unserious as us”.

At the time of writing this article, there have been numerous talks about TikTok, and honestly, no one is certain if the app will remain in the U.S. However, the ‘fresh app’ RedNote is giving the opportunity for everyone to be interconnected, confirming the wise words, “The world is now a global room.”

Per another user on X “Xiaohongshu, also known as RedNote, has hit #1 on the US App Store following news of a possible TikTok ban on January 19th”.
