Venezuela Riots: Here’s Why the People are Tired Study shows

Venezuelans are causing chaos in the country against the alleged winner of the presidential candidate – Maduro on Monday over an alleged election fraud. The election announcement held on Sunday was supposed to be a Life changing opportunity with the future of Venezuela on the line. 

Maduro has been in power since 2013 and has maliciously and violently used his powers on those who fail to follow him, gets opposition party leaders arrested, banned opposition key leader – Marina Corina from running, as she didn’t include some food vouchers on her asset declaration. Meanwhile, many opposition supporters mentioned that they would rather leave the country for Maduro as they cannot stand his authoritarian leadership style and excess use of violence under his rule. 

The allegations of foul play when Nicholas Maduro was announced winner has been the cause of riot in Venezuela. After the National Election Council pronounced Maduro the winner with 80 Percent of counted ballots, the opposition party had rejected the results claiming their tallies showed that Gonzalez had won with about 7 million votes. The opposition party further alleged that the CNE has stopped the data from the polling stations to prevent more votes from being processed. 

To show how they are displeased with the Maduro results, citizens take to the streets banging their pots which can be heard across the entire city and also waving the Venezuelan flags while chanting “ Liberty”. witnesses attest that dozens of national guard soldiers in riot gear are repressing the mostly peaceful protests with tear gas and batons.

The Venezuelans are reacting against this government;  having experienced the worst economic collapse in recent years. The economy has been in great depression due to chronic decrease in important consumer goods and inflation in prices that most citizens could barely afford combined with high embezzlement rate and mismanagement in the hands of government officials.
