Per reports, David, a 17-year-old, collapsed in 2007 during a crew practice session at McCallie School in Chattanooga. Although the school’s first responders swiftly went into action trying to resuscitate the 17-year-old, he was pronounced dead at the Memorial Hospital.
Reports say, his twin brother, Reid was onsite when the tragedy happened. Brett on IG explained that her family grieved for a long while. Per her post, her parents’ marriage never recovered and her older brother, Reid battled with substance abuse and schizophrenia. In her words:

My parents’ marriage never recovered, my older brother—David’s identical twin—has since struggled with a decade-long battle with schizophrenia and drug usage, and I had to learn how to grow up in the shadow of immense grief and love for a brother I barely got to know.
