According to OCB Natural Bodybuilding:
Our hearts are broken as we share the passing of our dear friend, long time OCB promoter of the @ocbnogearclassic, 1st @ocbyortoncup Champion, and 2022 @ocbhalloffame recipient, Will Powell.
Will fought a long and arduous battle from what started as a grapefruit size tumor in his lung in 2015, through numerous surgeries to remove tumors, and prostate cancer. He was a warrior through his illness as he was in health.
Will was a friend to everyone who knew him. He was kind, generous, humble, inspiring, a talented athlete, teacher/coach, and role model for so many. He was incredibly devoted to natural bodybuilding and loyal to the OCB mission of promoting drug free bodybuilding. In fact, Will was one of the OCB’s first promoters, and hosted the first drug tested show ever held in North Carolina @ocbnogearclassic. Today the @ocbnogearclassic has grown to 150+ athletes annually and has changed thousands of lives during its production.
.
Will was a coach to many athletes over the years in CrossFit and bodybuilding, to include several Yorton Cup champions, even his 2x @ocbyortoncup champion daughter @dragonqueen11. This makes Will and Jessica Powell the only father-daughter team to take the prestigious @ocbyortoncup title.
In addition to his many athletic accomplishments, Will was a very loved and respected member of our community. He was a blessing to everyone who met him.
The OCB family of promoters, volunteers, and athletes send our love and prayers of comfort to Will’s family, wife and co-promoter @tepowell8, and friends. Will Powell will never be forgotten.
May his soul rest in peace.
