When Did Oasis Break Up? Shocking 2009 Split Explained
The Oasis fan base is in uncontrollable excitement based on the recent announcement that the Britpop singers will be reunited for the 2025 major concerts. The question on everyone’s mind is “Could this great News be true?”. Well, let’s find out if the news is true as there are many more battles to unfold.
Meet Noel Gallagher
Born Noel Thomas David Gallagher on May 29, 1967, is an American singer and songwriter who is the main co-lead vocalist, and lead guitarist of the Oasis music band. Noel Gallagher began to play guitar at age 12 and was also a roadie and a technician for the Inspiral Carpets at 21. Noel joined his brother, Liam in a band called Rain after he rejected to be the group’s manager. He agreed to join the band on the condition that he would take on the creative side of the group and become its sole songwriter and lead guitarist.
The band’s first and second debut album “Definitely Maybe” was a huge success, reaching the top of album charts and fastest selling albums in the UK chart history.
The Oasis Band Came To An End
In August 2009, following a feud between the two brothers, Noel Gallagher announced his departure from the Oasis band. The timing of Noel’s departure had left the band in rough air currents mostly during the crest of Britpop. Their conflicts had regularly made several headlines in different media outlets. Noel Gallagher, on his part, had formed his band “ Noel Gallagher High Flying Birds” which had released four studio albums.
Noel Gallagher was quoted saying: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”
Here are a few reactions from the time of the band split up;
AllThingsOasis reacted “a sad sad time for british music.”
Mickey MC commented “If this would’ve happened in 2020 I think someone would set the planet on fire the way this year has gone fucking criminal”
Dale Greening also reacted “Don’t think Liam and Noel have spoken since either”
Planet Pale “Saw them at Wembley a few weeks before, May as well have been called the “Dig out your soul Farewell tour”. The lack of spark between the 2 was plain for all to see.”
Lewis Lee Adamson commented “both never got on a lot but noel just grew tired of it,got older n now he thinks differently now so he has decided to have enough.but they went separate buses anyway but that wasn’t enough they i mean Noel had to split the band up.still tho my bro is a cunt but could still go on”
