Maria Toral, a 24-year-old cheerleader and athlete at the Melbourne Cheer Academy, suddenly passed away; the cause of death is currently unknown.

Friends of Maria say she was a vibrant soul whose bright attitude filled and carried every practice session and even competitions.
Joining MCA in 2014 and then moving on to make history in 2018 when she earned her spot on the academy’s first-ever Cheerleading Worlds team.

Teammates and colleagues describe her as not just an incredible tumbler and excellent athlete, but the one who carries the spirits of her teammates when the days are low.

A GoFundMe was organized in her honour by Alejandra Vargas Boy. A total of $20,236 AUD has been raised, with many making huge donations.

Her passing was announced by the Melbourne Cheer Academy (MCA) via their social media page. Tributes pour in from across the world as family members work to bring her home to Melbourne.
