Shawn Richards had this to say:
All day long, I’ve been reading everyone’s stories of Chad Pilkington, and they’ve all made me tear up a bit. Pilk was such an icon and pillar of the Lapel community for so many years and for so many reasons… The last time I saw Chad was a couple of weeks back down at Rickers (GetGo) there in Lapel… Over the years, he had always given me shit about how I’d never “made it” in Nashville, and if you knew Pilk, you knew he was always ready to give you shit. But THAT day was different. I had just released my album, and he gave me a hug and told me he was proud of me. I’ll take that to my grave. RIH, big man, I’ll see ya there!— with Chad Pilkington.
