Josh Battle moves from St. Kilda to Hawthorn
It is not very uncommon to find supporters of the AFL to engage in a debate, concerning the transfers taking place in the league.
If rumors are to be true, then the latest transfer news has left many St Kilda fans disappointed and stunned because the player of interest is the club’s key defender named Josh Battle who has told the Saints’ administration that he wants to transfer to Hawthorn in the next trade window.
Who is Josh Battle?
Josh Battle, born on September 1, 1998, is an Australian Rules footballer who began his AFL career with St Kilda after being drafted in 2016.
Known for his versatility, he transitioned from a forward to a key defender, playing 123 games for the Saints.
His skills have been instrumental in the formation of the St Kilda defensive structures; thus he is a very big loss to the side.
The Move to Hawthorn
A move that has been long in the making, but recently, Josh Battle has now decided to push for a transfer to Hawthorn.
This is significant since Battle will take a new deal as an unrestricted free agent, meaning that the New Orleans Saints cannot match Hawthorn’s offer.
He is expected to sign a six-year deal which should be around $850,000 to the Hawks this season.
However, the Saints will get a compensation pick, probably in the first round this time which is something that they want badly.
A Hint At Rebuilding
Perhaps, the era begins with the departure of Josh Battle who has been one of the important mainstays in St Kilda’s defense line.
In more recent times other players have left the Saints some of which include a veteran player in Seb Ross this means that the team is slowly going through a rebuild that would change what it has been known for.
