Roger Moore’s father was a policeman named George Alfred Moore. His mother Lilian Pope was also English but she was born in India. Moore studied first at Battersea Grammar School Launceston College and Dr Challoner’s Grammar School. 

Roger Moore was well educated and he worked as an apprentice in an animation studio however, he was fired after making an error with animation cels. Later, after accompanying his father to solve a case, he attracted the eye of a director who made him act in the 1945 movie Caesar and Cleopatra. This would later be the beginning of his walk to greatness in the movie industry.

No, Roger Moore is no longer alive. He passed away in May 2017 surrounded by his family in Switzerland. Moore was subject to various illnesses throughout his life. Even as a child, he already suffered from measles, chickenpox, mumps, jaundice, and pneumonia. Growing up to becoming an adult, he was diagnosed with kidney stones and prostate cancer and although it was treated successfully, many diseases followed after.

In 2003, he collapsed and was fitted with a pacemaker to resolve a slow heart rate and in 2013, he was diagnosed with diabetes. 

Some years before his death, a tumor was discovered in his Liver. Roger Moore finally lost the battle against death in 2017 when he was diagnosed with lung and liver cancers. During his burial, 007 actors after him came to pay their respects and they were present till the burial was concluded.
