learned about swimming at age seven due to his sisters’ influence. Michael Phelps was the
winner of a national 100m butterfly record for his age group and he began to learn more
about swimming under the tutelage of Bob Bowman. He has won many more age group
records both in long and short courses. Michael Phelps also qualified for the 2000 Summer
Olympics and became the first youngest male to win the U.S Olympic swim.
Michael Phelps Early Career And Personal Life.
Michael Phelps was a trainee under Bob Bowman at age 11. On March 30, 2001, during the
World Championship trial, Micheal Phelps who was around the age of 15 broke the World’s
record in the 200-metre butterfly swim. At the National Swimming in 2003, Michael Phelps
became the first swimmer to use the backstroke, freestyle, and butterfly strokes to win the
national championship. Michael Phelps also had his fair share of swimming losses but that
doesn’t make him feel less of himself but a better version who broke the barrier to win against
all odds.
Michael Phelps is retired. He is married to Miss California of the USA- Nicole Johnson with
whom they had three adorable sons.
