Bowie State Mourns the Death of Amani Miles, Beloved Support Staff Member
Bowie State University is mourning the death of 23-year-old Amani Miles, a dedicated student support staff member.
Miles worked in the football department of the institution. She was a Silver Spring, MD native and a 2024 graduate of Bowie State, where she earned a degree in Business Administration with a focus on marketing.
Per the statement from Bowie State Athletics paying tribute to Mile explains that she was an inspiration. The statement reads:
“Amani’s presence was a source of inspiration and strength to us all.”
She was the Head Football Equipment Manager during her time as a student. Per multiple reports, she was very active in campus activities like the Circle K International, and the Bowie State Cab Street Team.
She’s remembered as a bright and determined person. She celebrated her graduation from the Business Administration degree in December 2024.
Per statements from her classmates, she is remembered as a “sweet and innocent soul”.
The University released a condolence message explaining that her “light and kindness touched so many”.

“To our fallen Bulldog, Amani Miles – a loving daughter, sister, friend, and forever Bowie Bulldog. We lost a sweet and innocent soul far too soon. From equipment manager to a proud Fall 2024 graduate in Business Marketing, Amani left a mark that will never fade.
