Sadly, Bourdain’s death through suicide on June 8, 2018, was a big blow that was felt across the culinary industry and to society.

Anthony Bourdain’s Chant and Cause of Death Unveiled

For many years in the world of food, travel, raw and realistic narratives, Anthony Bourdain was and remained a known voice.

However, beneath the widely-documented affection for food and travels, Bourdain had a side that he teased for quite some time, at least until his death – depression.

Bourdain’s memoir, “Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly” is his account of his time in the trenches of the restaurant trade, celibacy.

As an author, highly educated even in the early days of his career, can lead to some pretty bizarre ceremonies.

Among them was the provocatively harsh “chant”: ‘Hail Satan! Hail Satan!’: A sarcastic affirmation of one aspect of hellish circumstances confronting cooks.

As Bourdain told this, it was potentially the only way that all those involved in such an environment could laugh happily though with tired bones and spirits while knowing that such is the price to pay for working in a restaurant that demands perfection.

Of course, such a chant was created based on the kitchen environment, but it makes it difficult not to think that, perhaps, it resonated with Bourdain’s issues in his life.

Bourdain’s public struggle between substance abuse and clinical depression suggests that the man used comedy to mask his pain.

Sadly, Bourdain’s death through suicide on June 8, 2018, was a big blow that was felt across the culinary industry and to society.

He was 61 years old, but his memory will remain more than his culinary one, as his programs were more than the shows presenting recipes.

While the “Hail Satan’’ chant, which was playful to a certain extent as a joke among the fellow kitchen comrades, coexists with the darkness that Bourdain embraced in his personal life.

In the wake of the untimely death of a giant, people and fellow TV personalities were left wondering the difference between the face Bourdain put on in front of the camera and the pain he suffered behind closed doors.

It is indeed a sad situation.
