Early Friday morning, around 5:30 am, a car crash near a cemetery claimed the life of 17-year-old Abigail Campbell of the Clark County Community.
This incident has left members of the community in mourning.
Abigail was a bright student and tennis player and was confirmed dead at the scene as she was the only one inside the car, which had left the roadway and hit a tree at a spot which neighbours claim to have taken many lives as well. A large boom alerted the neighbours to the accident.
Fellow students and friends of Abigail from the Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center and Greenon High School say they will always remember her quick smile and confident kindness.
Counselors are now available for students and staff alike as this crisis puts the community in mourning.
Authorities say during their investigation, there was no sign of speeding and distraction, and they are also checking road cons at the time.
Vigils are being planned as close friends and loved ones gather to share memories of a young life with a ton of potential.
Those close to Abigail say she always carried a silent dedication, be it on the court or in class. Her sudden passing has left a hole and will always remind us of how frail this life can actually be.
