The creative genius behind the comedy Father Ted, 57 year old Irish writer Graham Linehan was recently arrested at Heathrow Airport in London.
Reason for his arrest? Graham usually writes on X using the @glinner account made a couple of tweets on transgender people which the five armed police officers that were sent to escort him accused him of using his tweets as a means of inciting violence.
One of his posts said things along the lines of “make a scene”and “if all else falls punch him in the balls” which the authorities say his post is urging individuals to carry out violent acts towards trans-women.
The public is now divided into two sides, one who are saying that the arrest shows free speech is under attack and suppression, while the other argues that Graham Linehan words crossed a boundary it shouldn’t have.
