Authorities have officially released a statement about the 13-year-old girl who sadly drowned off the coast of Belmar, New Jersey.
The 13-year-old reportedly went missing in the ocean around 6:36 p.m., as many people, including individuals and groups of individuals at the scene, called 911 reporting a case of a swimmer in distress near Eight Avenue Beach.
This incident occurred on Friday evening, the 15th of August, 2025. The police swiftly arrived at the scene, saved one person, but the teenager was still missing.
She was found unconscious about an hour later in the water off the Seventh Avenue Beach. Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Lifeguards, and paramedics with haste performed life-saving efforts before rushing her to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
Lifeguards were reportedly off duty during the incident, as shoreline protection hours had closed earlier that Friday.
At the time of writing this article, police are still investigating the incident, and the community is left in grief, deeply saddened by the incident.
