14-Year-Old Killed in Shooting at University of New Mexico Dorm, Suspect Arrested

In a tragic piece of news, we report the untimely demise of a 14-year-old following a tragic shooting at the University of New Mexico.

Authorities reported that a 14-year-old was tragically shot in the early hours of Friday, 25th of July, 2025, inside the students’ dorm room at the University of New Mexico. 

Reports from the Chief of the University of New Mexico Police Department, John Silva, explain that four students were playing video games when an 18-year-old started shooting sporadically. A young 14-year-old died at the scene, and a 19-year0old was injured from the sporadic shooting.

During the investigation, authorities evacuated the students, and the campus was placed under lock and key.

At the time of writing this article, an arrest has been made, and the university has opened counseling offices for anyone who desires and seeks counseling. 

Although the motive of the shooting is unclear to authorities, however, the families of the new student are shocked as the incident took place during freshman orientation.

There have been numerous reactions on social media about the incident, with many sympathizing with the family of the victims.
