British YouTube Star Yung Filly Charged With Rape

Popular British YouTube personality and rapper Yung Filly, has been arrested on charges of sexual assault at his hotel. He is currently on conditional bail while his lawyer fights for his pardon at the magistrate court at Perth. 

Who is Yung Filly?

Andrés Felipe Valencia Barrientos  is a British YouTuber and musician. He was born on the 6th of August 1995 in Colombia and raised alone alongside his two siblings by a single mother. 

Professionally known as Yung Filly, he began his career as a YouTuber in 2013 and his musical career in 2017. Since the beginning of 2018, he has made several appearances in shows and the ones he hosted till date. With more than three million Instagram followers and 1.84 million YouTube subscribers, his social media presence is massive. 

The Details of the Alleged Rape Incident and the Victim’s Account

On 8 October, 2024, Yung Filly was arrested in Brisbane on the grounds of sexual assault of a young woman in a hotel room in Australia on September 28, 2024 following a performance at Bar1 in Hillarys, Perth, the previous evening. 

Yung Filly faces four charges of sexual penetrations without consent, three sexual assault causing body harms and one count of preventing his victim’s breathing by applying pressure to the neck. He was deported to Perth on 9 October 2024, appearing at the Perth magistrate court for his hearing on 10 October, 2024.

Magistrate Tanya granted him a conditional bail – including a ban on contacting the victim, staying in Western Australia, reporting daily to the police, and posting a $100,000 cash surety and a ban that disallows him from discussing the case on social media.

Yung Filly lawyer Seamus Rafferty, argued that his client was treated unjustly due to his social media presence, adding that keeping Barrientos in Perth’s Hakea prison for up to two years before trial would be excessively harsh.

Yung Filly’s next court appearance is awaited as investigations continue.
