The Storyline: A Brief Synopsis of the Dandadan Manga

Dandadan is a Japanese Manga series written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tastu. The manga series is published in English and Spanish languages on Shueisha ‘s manga platform. 

The story is centred around a girl called Momo Ayase who has a strong belief in ghosts but not aliens. Momo has a male friend and classmate called Ken Takakura (also called Okarun) who believes in aliens but not ghosts. In a bid to prove that one of them was right, they decided to pay a visit to different locations where both power exits with Momo Ayase visiting the former and Ken visiting the latter. 

On their journey of curiosity, Momo was kidnapped by aliens while Ken’s body was possessed by a ghost. With the duo combined powers, they were able to join hands in defeating the aliens together. As the story goes on, the two friends also joined forces with their classmates, friends, family and acquaintances fighting spirits and aliens. The plot theme includes the love story that blooms between the two classmates. 

The Anime Adaptation: A Look at the Production and Release Date

A glimpse at the production shows the introduction of the leading characters – Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura (Okarun), how the two met when Ayase stood up for Okarun against his bullies when he was reading an occultic magazine before the two shared what they actually believed in and and they decide that whoever can prove the existence of their belief, the loser would be the other’s servant. 

The anime release date is slated to be on the 4th October, 2024 at 12:26 AM Japanese Standard Time.  International viewers can catch the episode at 9:00 PM Pacific Standard Time, 11:00 PM Central Standard, and 12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time. The episode will be available to stream on Crunchyroll, Netflix and Hulu.
